Portraits by Mary Caldera

afforadable, beautiful, personal gifts for any occasion created by a local Southbay artist.

About the Artist

I am a young artist of Southern California. Born in the Southbay, I started drawing as soon as I could hold a crayon (or lipstick according to mom). Throughout my childhood I spent many hours with coloring books, illustrated storybooks, and lots of blank paper. I would spend hours looking at pictures and trying to copy them. In elementary and junior high I attended a free after school art program and received my first formal instruction. At home I would keep practicing drawing comic book characters and anything else that came into my mind. I also started drawing portraits of classmates for pocket money. In high school I took AP Art and trying other arts and crafts. After high school I took various art classes at the junior college but pursued a degree in Architecture.

I am nearly done with my AA degree of Architecture and work as a computer drafter, but I have never stopped drawing for fun. When I'm not doing artwork I'm usually spending time with my parents, friends or riding with the Southbay Cruisers.
